November Fresh Sewing Day and Goal

It's November 1st! In my world, that means the first day of Christmas music (I started with an "alternative Christmas" CD that I love that's not too Christmas-y - more wintery!). It's also Fresh Sewing Day at Lily's Quilts! This means we can all celebrate the finishes from the past month. I don't write a post every month... but with all that went on in October, I thought it was justified!

1. For Baby Kevin, 2. Oakshott Table Runner, 3. Gentle Improv Waves Pillow - Cascade Blog Tour, 4. Oakshott Table Runner - back, 5. Pixie Sticks, 6. Back - For Baby Kevin

I wrote two tutorials (and I'm still recovering!):

I taught my first sewing class with more to come!!

I DIYed some Halloween costumes. Here's a sneak peek (yes, I know my wig is awful!):

My November goal is to finish this beast: my mom's queen-sized orange peel quilt. It actually has a deadline of November 11 (her birthday). What. I know. I top-stitched the peels today and hope to finish the top tonight, then tomorrow is basting, backing, and starting to quilt! At least I have the binding already. Maybe it actually will come together in time. And yes, she reads my blog, and yes, she requested all of it!

What was your October like sewing-wise?

  1. My dad's birthday is November 11th! I have completely confidence that you can make that goal! You follow through and are so determined, and often have a speed I'm jealous of.

  3. You certainly had a busy month, mine was busy too -- just not in the sewing room! I hope "Jan" is back from having her annual check up when I get to class tomorrow morning! I miss her!

  5. Your mom's quilt is going to be wonderful; what great color & fabric choices you have there!!

For the Halloween costumes, Mother of Dragons and...Arya, I think? They're two of my favorites (although when I think about it, there are a lot of favorites -- add Jon Snow, Tyrion, Brienne, and Margaery, at least.)

I really love the striped fabric on the back of baby Kevin's quilt. It's so much fun when the back of the quilt looks as good as some quilt fronts! :)

Oh, and we had snow today in Massachusetts. More wintery than I wanted, thank you, especially since I had to be outside for a few hours this morning! ;)
