Made in Cherry quilt top!

I finally finished! It's been sitting all laid out on the living room floor for a few weeks (I have the best mom :) ). I just have not had a free hour (or two) where I was conscious enough to sew it all together. I've learned the hard way about how I sew when I'm tired... it's not a smart idea!

It was SO windy out today, but Marisa and I had fun taking pictures. Most of these were not planned! I think, when it's finished, I'm going to call it "Flying Purple People Eater." I can't think of a better name for something so purple-y (that flew today!).

I'm really pleased about how well the Kona Coal blends with the purple.

I can't wait to finish this one! And then it's sticking around :) This is the first quilt I've made (besides a t-shirt quilt) that I am actually keeping!

Little sis :)

More pics soon when I decide how to quilt it... any suggestions? I'm not very good with straight lines so I'm hesitating a bit.

Another story from the Quilt Giver

I know I'm not alone. Many of us quilters give away our creations. I just realized, looking at my "finished quilts" tab on top of the page, that every single quilt there has been gifted or donated. =P I truly LOVE making unique, personalized quilts for the people I love, and never regret doing so. However, sometimes I become so attached to a quilt that it becomes slightly painful to give it away.

Yesterday was one of those days. I gave my Bubble Trail baby quilt away to my soon-to-be sister-in-law, who is having another one of my nieces in just a month.

My sister-in-law (and everyone at the baby shower) loved it (sometimes it's kind of embarrassing when people ask, "how much TIME did that take?" Do you know the feeling?) Honestly, I knew she was going to get a billion and one outfits, and diapers, and pacifiers, and whatnot, but she would only get one handmade quilt that could be used for a long time and kept forever.

I used my FMQ foot (I'm not even sure if that's the right name!) and FMQed her name, Audriana, into the bottom of the quilt. I also attached the label to the back and took a couple of final pictures.

"born" left with space afterwards so she can fill it in :)

I'm going to miss this one... it's one of my favorite quilts I've ever made... I love the rainbow colors and the modern feel. It was very whimsical to me. Hopefully I'll see it again.

This Week

Getting a little bit of sewing done, around all the business that is student teaching!

I received these generous scraps from Art Gallery Fabrics today (they were giving them out for free! Check out their Facebook page - they'll probably do it again in the future). I'm in LOVE with my scraps.

What should I make? I'm stuck. The only idea I'm getting right now is a chevron mini quilt or something along those lines... with these fabrics and the extra solids...

Any suggestions?

I'm also almost (finally) done with my Made in Cherry quilt top, and I'm adding a quilt label on this weekend to the bubble baby quilt (thank you so much for all the feedback by the way!).

What are you up to? :)
