Blogiversary + Handmade Giveaway

Today, I was scrolling through my somewhat-neglected-of-late blog and realized, with a jolt, that today is my 4 year blogiversary (thanks to a widget on my sidebar)! It's hard for me to believe that quilting/blogging have been one of the most important parts of my life for 4 years already. At the same time, it feels like I've been doing this my whole life (it has been most of my 20's so far!).

When I think about how many things I'll (hopefully) be able to make in a lifetime, I start to itch with creativity. I just want to make things. So, for this blogiversary, I'm offering a custom made pillow cover for one reader!

Details: The pillow cover can be any size up to 24" (so long as you provide the actual pillow form).  It won't be started until at least the end of October, and I'll aim to send it by the end of the year. This giveaway is open internationally to anyone in the world. You tell me what kind of pillow you would want (size? improv? curves? quilt-as-you-go? a certain pattern? quilter's [my] choice? dense or not-dense quilting? which colors?) to enter. If you enter, please give it some thought. :) You can answer any of the questions - I can't wait to read about it. Feel free to change your mind/alter your response if you win, though (before I start sewing :D).

You can have a second chance at the giveaway if you follow me - just let me know how in a second comment. I'll close the giveaway on Oct. 3 at 7pm EST, when I'll choose a winner by Random Number Generator.

Thank you for all of your support and for all of the opportunities I've had with quilting so far. This blog has been the most unexpected and exciting creative outlet, and I've made some of my most cherished friendships with quilters. :)
Cheers!

  4. If I won I would love something in blue/greenish. I'm not really a fan of improv or wonky but anything else at all would be cool! Thanks for the chance! - As an aside even though I'm not usually an improv fan I do actually like that bottom pillow. Maybe it's the awesome color layout? Fabric choices? I don't know but you're almost making me a believer. ;)

  13. Happy 4th! I enjoy getting your posts. I saw that you like churn dash and x plus blocks. Me too! I've been wanting to make both into quilts. Still surfing the web for color combos I like. The nested churn dash quilts are really nice. Either would make a great large quilt. Betsydotsmithatverizondotnet

  16. If I was lucky enough to win such a great prize from you I would be doing a happy dance. In New Zealand we call these cushions-pillows are what we have on the bed-it is so interesting how we have different names for things. I love the cover you made your sister in law and would love one like that with bright colours in the centre fabrics.

  37. OOOh~ a pillow cover sounds just delicious! Pillow are not my forte and yet I would just love to be able to churn them out to make each room of my house sparkle with character!
If I were to win I think I'd love a pillow cover for our living room... in teals, aquas, mustard and and we have burnt orange chairs so a little addition of the orange might make it pop!.... or for my t.v. room a large one to cover our snuggle pillow... right now I'm digging a plum, peach, magenta colour scheme and cream and gold accents... I love bold and saturated colours and am not afraid of unusual pairings and love text fabrics and glitter and gold! I love me some dense and contrasting quilting and I'm in love with the look of curves but haven't ventured there myself yet... and then saw this today while surfing the net and LOVE IT!http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2iiedgOY_W4/VCRkTbdkBQI/AAAAAAAAXR0/1vdQuqvY6wY/s1600/quilt-as-you-go-amy-smart.JPG
The quilt as you go method takes on a whole new meaning when I see this and the book Quilt as you Go Made Modern looks fabulous! As you can see I'm all over the map and will pretty much love it all :) After all this crafty chat I'm feeling inspired :)

  38. Happy 4th Blogiversary Jess! If I won I would like it to be a scrappy improv in cheerful colors.

  39. Happy Blogiversary! I love anything rainbow you do (especially with AMH - yum!) and loved your grey/orange/purple sister's BOM quilt, so something along either of those lines would be spectacular! I tend to love patterns over improv, but would probably leave the design work up to you :) thanks for the giveaway!

  40. Happy 4th Blogiversary! I have been following you for a little over two years now. The first blog entry I read was Chain Piecing is Good for the Soul! I found your blog via the Central Jersey Modern Quilt Guild when I was living in Princeton, NJ. I totally regret now that I never made it to a guild meeting and missed the opportunity to meet you and the all other guild members.
I would love one of your fabulous creations. I have no particular color or piecing ideas in mind, I just want to see lots of your awesome FMQ.

  61. The pillows you made above take my breath away, particularly your use of colors. I would love to win one from you! I think I'd like a 20" pillow, and the look I'd go for would be soft and feminine. The colors I'd choose would be cream, raspberry, deep teal, light pink, light blue, gold, green, and chocolate brown, or any combination of any of those colors. I LOVE what I see in your pictures so I would like to leave it up to you to figure out what to do with all that! I really hope I win. :) sarah@forrussia.org
