American Flag Cake Recipe

Happy 4th of July for everyone in the good old USA! This is a dessert we make in my house almost every year: the flag cake.

All you need is a package of pound cake, tub of cool whip (get the good kind, you're treating yourself :) ), about a package and a half of strawberries, and 1 package of blueberries.

Slice the strawberries long ways (like you see in the picture) and wash them, along with the blueberries. Next, slice the pound cake equally to cover the bottom of the pan you are using. It doesn't have to be a specific kind of pan because it doesn't go in the oven - but we use a glass pan.

Then, scatter strawberries and blueberries over the pound cake, but make sure you save enough for the top! Next, spread cool whip over the fruit and the cake. You're going to use a generous amount. Then, decorate the top of the cake with the fruit - blueberries in the corner for stars, and strawberries for stripes. My mom likes to put the strawberries in opposite directions. Put in the fridge and you're done - until you're ready to eat it!

Have a great night! My family just BBQed and we're going to the local ice cream shop soon :) Plus I'm sewing - it's a great day!
