Featured on Abby Glassenberg's "While She Naps"

This week, Abby Glassenberg, the longtime writer of While She Naps blog and newsletter (amongst many other fabulous titles), contacted me. She asked if she could interview me about my newsletter, The Wonky Press. As a result, we chatted on the phone for an hour about all kinds of things!

Abby just published a profile and behind-the scenes look at writing and distributing The Wonky Press. Take a look here!

For at least the last year, I've greatly admired Abby's investigative journalism and professional newsletters. In fact, her weekly email was one of the several sparks behind starting my own. I'm so honored to be included as part of her research into email newsletters. Thank you, Abby!

I also highly recommend Abby's e-book on email marketing: How To Create A Powerful Email Newsletter: A Comprehensive Guide for Creatives. I've been reading it and I'm so impressed with her thoroughness on the topic.

I want to take a moment to thank all of my new followers and newsletter subscribers from this last week. It's so inspiring and it makes me want to do what I'm doing even more! Issue 8 will be out on Jan. 15, and in the meantime, I've got lots of creating and blogging on the way!

  2. Hi Jess,
I am a devoted reader of both your blog and your newsletter, alway enjoying both though rarely (if ever) commenting. After reading your interview, I now realize that I need to get off my butt and comment more often to counteract some of that negative feedback (unsubscribing, really!?). Thank you for all your work with the newsletter! I'm one of the folks who reads it through when I first get it and then go back again and again to click on all of the links you provide. Your enthusiasm for quilting and the quilting community is inspiring.

    1. Hi Laura! I would respond to you by email but you are no-reply (as in, I can't see your email address). Anyway, thank you so much for your comment! You totally made my night. :)

I realize that a lot of times, unsubscribes might be people who don't realize what the email is and are just clearing out their inboxes. No matter what, it happens and that's alright! :)

Have a wonderful Sunday and thanks again for your generous comment!

  3. I enjoyed reading your interview.
I love your blog and just signed up for your newsletter!
I really appreciate your ever so dependable encouragement and creativity
Some of us have so many pots on the burner, more that we know we can handle anyway, and it is nice to be drawn in to what we find that makes us calm and happy. Your blog does that for me. It keeps me moving ahead

  4. First let me say thanks for making your pop-up for signing up for your newsletter off to the side and non-invasive!!! Those drive me crazy, and it seems like most blogs have them now, ugh! I read through Abby's interview as soon as I saw it in my feed, it was so well done! I imagine that getting notified of having someone leave the mailing is list is hard, meanwhile on blogs, FB and IG that happens all the time--but without the notification. Did Mike take all those lovely photos of you at your sewing machine? They are great, I totally want some like that of me!
