Main goal: I volunteered to make a quilt for Eric's wife - he was one of the firemen who passed away during the Arizona fires. So completely sad, and I felt like our families are similar in some ways (married with no kids). I'm hoping to give Amanda something to cherish.
I've chosen a stack of blues, greens, oranges, and reds to make a scrap quilt, based on the Sedona Hills of Arizona. The couple loves the outdoors, too, so it's fitting. Click on this link to visit Wanderlust, a blog that features my inspiration pictures.
It will be all sewn up in strips - blue first for the sky, then red, orange, and green (for grass). I'm really anxious to keep working on this - I used my scraps first, and I'm going to cut from my stash from there. I know Jean would love some more people to make or contribute quilts - see this post for more info.
Other August goals:
1. August bee blocks for guild (this WILL get done this weekend, so help me)
2. Catch up on Sister's Ten blocks (July and August)
3. Make AMH skirt
4. Work on surprise quilt
5. Start Tangled mini quilt for sister
6. Finish at least two commission t-shirt quilts
7. Baby quilt for a coworker
8. BINDING FOR WEDDING QUILT <--also hope to start this weekend!
9. Quilt lantern quilt (still haven't decided how...)
And the list goes on! I'm sure I'm missing at least five other quilts I'd like to work on.

ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea, and beautiful fabrics--sure to be a wonderful quilt, I'm sure it will be cherished! :-) My dad (a firefighter) offered to give me some of his old wildland shirts, so I will somehow incorporate those into the quilt I am making! Hope to start soon, this month is flying by already! Good luck getting so many things done!
