Welcome to Quilty Habit! I love to improv piece and quilt on my domestic machine. I blog 2-3 times a week, teach and lecture about quilting, and write a free quilting newsletter. How do you do? :)
Today I'm excited to offer a 1 yard bundle of fabric (1/2 yard each) as part of Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day - the Viewfinders from Playful by Melody Miller and an OOP (out of print) fabric from Loulouthi by Anna Maria Horner.
Some of you might be wondering how I could give that latter one away, as I am a huge AMH fabric fanatic. Simple - it's a gorgeous piece of fabric, given to me by a friend, but I haven't found just the right use for it yet. I think it would be better in the hands of someone else. Somehow, these two prints just seem to go together! I hope you can find a beautiful use for them both.
Leave 1 comment*, answering this question:
- What is inspiring you to create right now? (It could be a thing, person, place, event, quilt, etc.) Links are appreciated but not required. If nothing is inspiring you this week, what has inspired you to create in the past?
You do NOT need to be a follower to enter, but you can if it strikes your fancy. I really try to share as much as I can in the hopes that I can spread around the quilty love as much as I have received! Right now, I'm in the middle of a modern wholecloth quilt (here's this week's post about quilting words in different sizes), and I share educational content (Top Ten Tips), progress posts, free patterns, quilt-a-longs, and detailed finish posts.
I also write The Wonky Press, a FREE bimonthly newsletter that contains relevant quilting links, project inspiration, community sharing, and highlights from my blog/a close up look at my personal life. Join our community and try it out!
Read the latest issue, #29: Thread Experiments + Bold and Scrappy Quilts
Have fun jumping around through the giveaways, and Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy New Year!
*Details: This bundle ships anywhere in the world. The giveaway will end on Sunday, 12/11/16 at 7 pm EST, when I will email the winner and close comments on this post. You MUST leave an email address or have one attached to your account to win - otherwise, I can't contact you. I often have to pick a second or third winner because I can't locate an email address. Best of luck!

ReplyDeleteI'm inspired by the ability to give a give that is from the heart, not the mall!
ReplyDeleteI am inspired by the women of the past, how they worked, shared patterns and chose their fabric. Their story was told on the surface of a quilt. I want my work to tell my story, to be meaningful to me. It is hard to know where I am going if I don't remember where I came from. I want to find ways to utilize the past traditions of quilt making to represent me today.
ReplyDeleteI am always inspired by color. The blogs I follow, especially exuberantcolor.blogspot.com, daily inspire me. Love your fabric!! To keep sewing, the comfort quilts inspire me.

OMG! You know I'm a AMH fan too! What inspires me right now is how quickly the season has changed. From the leaves changing beautiful colors to what we have now...grey starkness. For some reason it has caught my attention!
ReplyDeleteI'm always inspired by what I see on social media and by my great fellow guild members at the NJMQG
ReplyDeleteinspiration comes to me in all forms. But mostly social media. The IG Quilty World has some pretty amazing creators!
ReplyDeleteThat Viewfinder print is awesome. I get inspiration from my guild and from online blogs.
ReplyDeleteMost of my inspiration comes from my true love for sewing! What makes my projects feel special from project to project is thinking how much the recipient will love the quilt! Additionally I have the need to try and comfort people and since I'm sort of an introvert who forces themselves to be social I make quilts for those I love and those who just need a quilt!
ReplyDeleteI find inspiration by just observing the world around me. I also find so many wonderful ideas on Pinterest. The world is full of so many who are so creative!
ReplyDeleteI find inspiration by just observing the world around me. I also find so many wonderful ideas on Pinterest. The world is full of so many who are so creative!
ReplyDeleteOoh, that's a tough one. Right now? Probably the people on my blog roll. I'm also trying to work with color palettes that are outside my "usual", and they seem to be inspiring me to try new things as well! :)
ReplyDeleteUsually it is a specific fabric that inspires me. Rooting through the stash and finding things that look beautiful together.
ReplyDeleteSeeing people post on Instagram is always what inspires me!!! So many creative people and beautiful creations!
ReplyDeleteI find that stepping away from the computer (taking a walk, family time...) inspires me most. I'm usually struck with an idea and run with it!

ReplyDeleteStress is inspiring me to create. Otherwise I end up a ball of tension.
ReplyDeleteOh, Jess, you're giving away 1/2 yard of AMH? How big is your heart? What is inspiring me to create right now is my love for my friend Nancy and her kids. Nancy's husband died unexpectedly at just 56 years old--which doesn't seem too old, now that Nan and I are 52. They had one of the sweetest love stories I've ever known, since we were 18, and my heart is breaking for Nancy and the kids. Naturally, as a quilter, that is where my thoughts are now, and I"m thinking of what to make for each of them.
ReplyDeleteI find inspiration in making things for people who appreciate the things that are made for them. Thanks for the giveaway! vickise at gmail dot com

ReplyDeleteI'm inspired to sew right now because I'm trying to clear things off my calendar so I can focus on my UFO pile this next year. I'm in a few swaps from IG and I've got December to get through. Next year I'm going to try and NOT start any new projects so I can get those UFOs done. (Yeah, Right!)
ReplyDeleteI think it's color itself that is causing me to want to create right now. I just love playing with it! I'm a Bloglovin' follower and a newsletter follower too!

Also up for the next month is making a quilt with my college daughter (during the break) for her best friend's nephew, expected in January.

I'll sew them and pin more when I can, multi-tasking with my benefit projects. It's for a queen bed and I hope to give it to her this summer.
I love the Viewfinder fabric, but honestly I'm not sure when I'd use the AMH fabric. If I get picked, maybe you can pick another person for the AMH fabric and then there'd be two winners! In any case, thanks for having a giveaway -- what fun! :)
