Loominous is a set of yarn dyed cottons that feels thinner than regular quilting cotton. The fabrics have a gorgeous drape and several of them are metallic. I want to make a quilt out of just them!
These beauties have had me thinking all week. First, I thought I'd sew them together improvisationally in a color cascade, but I think they are begging for some patchwork. I thought maybe another Modern Maples will do the trick (I love making MMs). Maybe the lighter colored pieces could be the backgrounds. Thoughts? Help me make something lovely! Because these are begging to be used.
Coming this week: the photographs of two finished quilts (probably a blog post for just one of them - the selvage quilt!!), a visit to one of my LQS's (Rock Paper Scissors), a special announcement on Wednesday, and WE'RE MOVING. I can't wait to show you my new sewing room.
Linking up to Sunday Stash.
I don't think I could pass up Loominous if I came across it too!
ReplyDeleteI have some Loominous winging its way to me, I have some shot cottons which I hope to combine with them. My first thought is improv piecing as I know from previous experience with shot cottons that they need careful handling (pressing with lots of starch) as they do have a tendency to stretch a bit but nothing that can't be worked with. A combination of improv and patchwork would look great together.
ReplyDeleteit has a real sparkle hasn't it, rather good for the Mollisparkles Sunday Stash link up
