WIP Wednesday: Lantern block

This is my progress so far on my lantern quilt, which you saw a peek of here. I chose a dark purple Kona solid (I'll make sure I find out the name for the next post) so that it looks like the lanterns are lit up at night. The rest of my Good Fortune jelly roll is going to look perfect - I am so excited! I'll be making 5-6 different styles of lanterns - this is one of the largest.

Planning it out... decided to double it!

If anyone is interested in a block tutorial, quilt pattern, or quilt along, let me know! All you need is a jelly rolls and yardage. I'm taking strict measurements and writing everything down, just in case. I think the lanterns would look gorgeous with any fabric, really... :)

Just a quick mockup of what I started... it's more refined now. And I cut the HST idea because it doesn't work with jelly rolls (yes, I tried, even though I had a hunch it wouldn't!)

  3. I really like the way the good fortune works with the backing fabric your using. It's nice to see someone using something other than white or grey!

  4. So special. I'd love a tutorial. But a pattern would be ok too I guess. I'd love to make one of these with all the Japanese fabrics I've been hoarding... I mean collecting. I think my sister would love it for her birthday next year. This year is mums year for a quilt.
