Today was my first day back at sewing and I actually got a lot done (don't you love when that happens?)!
One of my best friends and my floormate this fall, Kristina (who I made my Beach Babes quilt for), and I talked about saving money for presents this year (poor college student thing, and we're seniors now, so even more so) - and she saw this hanging behind my bed, with a couple scant old pictures on it:
It was the fabric bulletin board I made in my introduction to sewing class in 11th grade (even though I enjoyed it I NEVER thought I would become obsessed with sewing in a few years).
She indicated that she would like one. She said that I could even make it her birthday present. So, we bought ribbon from Michael's for $1 (score) and she went through my fabric stash, picking out blues and purples (this hurt a little inside, because some are my favorite fabrics to hoard - but I know they are going to someone who appreciates them :) ).
So my dusty bulletin board turned into this (and yes, I kept the fabric from the first!):
I. want. to. keep. it. Doesn't it look nice with my pictures... behind my bed... ? :)
I'll be posting a tutorial for this project within the next couple of days! I hope you are inspired! It only took 2 hours (glue gun hunt and burn cursing included).
I'm really, truly afraid to count how many projects I am working on right now. Truly. But at least that bulletin board is done, and that was a new project. I selfishly kept working on the Little Apples quilt that I want to keep for myself... I want to have the quilt top done!
Goals for this week:
-Baby Quilt Top (needs to be done before August 28)
-T-shirt quilt - basted, start quilting
-Quilt my Warm/Cool QAL quilt
-Make one PIF package
-Little Apples Quilt Top
-Start skirt for me when the fabric gets here =D soooo (sew?) excited
On hold: Next t-shirt quilt
Secret wallhanging
My wedding quilt - rainbow dresdens

ReplyDeleteThat is a lot of projects - at least you have choice!
I would cringe too when someone is picking out fabric from my stash--but all for a good cause right-lol! Boy was it a success though! Adorable bulletin board.
ReplyDeleteGreat bulletin board redo - sorry you have to give it away! I really like that other project you have going on too, the Little Apples quilt. Such pretty colors!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea - to piece the fabric behind the ribbons! Whoop whoop!!
